Dana Ellis, RN has recently accomplished something quite fantastic! After several years of study and infusion work experience, Dana passed her Certified Registered Nurse of Infusion (CRNI) exam, joining a very elite group of 3400 infusion nurses across the nation who hold this prestigious certification.
In order to qualify to take the exam, Dana had to have at least 1500 hours of infusion nursing experieince in a two year timeframe. The exam itself is a rigorous and very comprehensive three-hour test covering a wide range of infusion-related information.
The test covers topics related to clinical infusion nursing, pharmacology, oncology, infection prevention, and more. To prepare, Dana spent the many hours outside of work studying, and got to know many of the area’s coffee shops intimately in the process. Finally on March 27th, she made the trip to Everett and passed the exam with flying colors!
Dana’s work is not done, however, as maintaining her certificate demands that she continually stay abreast of the most current developments in the field. She must maintain 1000 hours of infusion nursing, and complete numerous continuing education credits–or face the exam once again. By keeping up with clinical and technological advances, patients under her watch are assured of the best possible infusion care.
We here at Infusion Solutions want to congratulate Dana on this accomplishment, and appreciate all the time and effort she has put forth to garner this credential. She has definitely raised the bar with her depth and breadth of knowledge, and we are fortunate to have her on our team!
